Project 5: Puzzle Assets

As the environment artist on the unreleased game 'Project 5' — a top-down action adventure based on a beloved THQ Nordic IP — I worked on many interactive key assets, as well as simple environmental assets. The usual pipeline involved sculpting in ZBrush, creating a low-poly mesh in Blender, baking and texturing it in Substance 3D Painter, and then implementing the asset into the KAIKO proprietary engine and making it fit the artistic vision.

This set of assets was used for puzzle mechanics, enabling players to progress in the game and unlock rewards and content. Many of the assets also relied heavily on VFX created by Alex Anokhina and Adrian Vögtle, as well as a custom shader created by Jan Enders (https://aldurethar.github.io/). The big wall was one of my favourite assets to work on in this project, as it combined my skills as both a character and environment artist perfectly. Its modular nature also presented a nice challenge.
